Don't read this, you don't care. Writing things down helps me sort my thoughts out and process just exactly what the thoughts mean. This is me summing up my experience with Mignon and Shere.
From the start Mignon and Shere: On the Case! was a learning experience. I set out to learn how to work with an artist, namely Lukki, and it certainly did its job well. I learned that some things aren't a given and I've learned how he interprets certain things. It really gave me some insight and will make any future collaborations with him or other dudes a whole lot easier. In this regard it was a success, but I want to blabber about some other regards.
BotS is basically a terrible thing because it forces rushed work, not to mention severely limits how many panels you have to work with, both daily and overall. I wrote the initial script without BotS in mind, and that was my first mistake. It wouldn't of been too bad, sure it made the pacing pretty bad, but I don't particularly care looking back on it as a finished (well, part one is finished anyway) product. I really like words and my writing style reflects that. My favorite things to write are the less important scenes where people just talk about whatever. I love building characters and the world around them, but that I quickly realized that wasn't an option as I had to bring my poor script to the chopping board again and again. That's why I soon realized I would not be able to do what I wanted with this. This gave me time to see how people would react to things and let me throw random shit at readers to see what stuck.
Take comic 5. People point out how cheesy it is. This was good to know. See, it was supposed to be cheesy, Shere is the type of person who would actually say shit like this. It was supposed to be obvious that it was supposed to be cheesy though, and I failed at that. I really should have seen it coming though because I had no time to build that character beforehand or the city she lives in. In the very beginning when this was just an idea I told Lukki about, Quercitrin city was supposed to be a almost Utopian place where everyone was happy and polite and oblivious to the grim reality of other cities. The denizens of Quercitrin City were to be, and still will be should I get that chance, shown as a little off, some in a Stepford Wives kind of way where they are so polite it's creepy, and some in a more off-their-rocker type, like Shere. It was basically happy cloudcuckoolander....land, making Mignon the only sane (wo)man. This needs to be established before I try something like that again. I still love Mignon's line though, although the facial expression I imagined was much different. I'm oddly partial to the phrase as it describes both the city and Mignon quite well. I suppose since neither of these were established it just didn't work as I wanted.
Another reaction I really enjoyed seeing was when the note from the killer was shown. People kept saying it was obvious and that they knew what it or he or whatever was/is. I'm honestly curious what these people thought because there is really no indication what any of the hints on the note are supposed to be leading you towards. Most of it doesn't even pertain to events/places/people you could possible know existed at the time. All in all, those comments were enjoyable to read over.
So as a whole, I feel it served its purpose. The thrilling conclusion should hopefully be better paced, but still BotS is just too limited for my particular style and I don't except something great, but it should be alright. I'll learn some more, and hope that it leads to more serious projects in the future.

We have to put a stop to this and show this journalist the information we have on him. Xanda is becoming famous thanks to this retarded fuck.
